So now, Axl gets ANOTHER Slash friend... Buckcherry dudes were almost in VR... Duff is one of Slash's best buds and he may be an opening act, Wolfmother rumored to be an opener, and their singer is on Slash's album... So many connections to both Axl and Slash, yet, their paths never cross. Its only a matter of time folks... Zakk is a very PRO Slash guy, something is up. Not to mention the Eddie Trunk connection. Zakk is buds with Bumble, so who knows...

Slash wasn't too fond when Axl wanted Zakk in the band.

I agree, would have been too much... Slash IS your lead player, but him and Zakk have jammed many o times.... they almost went on tour together this past year with AIC...

Re: BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: Announces Shows With GUNS N' ROSES
I honstly don't think there's a conspiracy guys.
There's a lot of cross over because in our world of many genres - hard rock music is kinda a niche talent.
Slash is one of the best hard rock guitarists of his day (and probably all time), Axl is one of the best hard rock vocalists of his day (and probably all time)....
So it sort of makes sense that other players in the hardrock game are going to spend time with them, collaborate with them, tour with them or otherwise cross paths.
Some of the guys you mention, like buckcherry grew up listening to GNR and clearly style themselves after them. So of course they'll accept a tour date with Axl or a chance to form a band with Slash.
Then Zakk has always been an on the level, straight down the line, beer loving metal dude. He is as he seems IMO.
I don't think it shows there's anything going on - other than that at the end of the day - Axl and Slash have more in common to the genre than against each other - in the sense that despite the "war" - they're both hard rock icons - as opposed to one of them being a pop star or something. The only reason it's so apparent recently - is that slash has always been out there making connections to people - while Axl's been otherwise entangled in the CD saga - but now Axl's out and about too - he's likely to run into all these type of folks too.

Re: BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: Announces Shows With GUNS N' ROSES
Slash wasn't too fond when Axl wanted Zakk in the band.
My understanding is they're pretty good friends....Slash just didn't want Zakk in GNR because he say it as someone comming in to do what he does in the band.
Slash operates from an aerosmith perspective - there's a rhythm player and a lead player - and he's the lead player.
I know people like to say there's a beef between them or that Slash was threatened by Zakk...and no one questions that Zakk is an animal of a player. Fucking Killer.
But I think it really just comes down to the roll in the band....Slash had always been the only lead player and soloist in GNR....then Axl's bringing in Paul Huge and having him overdub solos over Slash's work - without Slash's knowledge....then orginising Jams with Zakk....a guy known for his solos....
Slash is open to colaborations with people, he's even jammed with Zakk live - but the idea of Zakk in GNR - while it might have interested Axl - it doesn't fit with Slash's vision of what the band was - and it just seemed like bringing in someone to further challange and replace his own roll in the band.
Re: BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: Announces Shows With GUNS N' ROSES
In the Loader interview Axl said Zakk basically overpowered Slash in the recordings/jams, but I don't take that in a negative way, just that they probably didn't mesh.
I take that in an absolute negative way. It's Axl's way of trying to diminish what Slash does. No different than when Axl used to rant about BH being so much better than Slash.

Re: BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: Announces Shows With GUNS N' ROSES
Yeah...I mean I see Slash's major talent as adding new melodies and lead lines over the top of the exisitng melodies and part of the way that works to me is that all other guitar parts are structured around what slash is doing or about to do.
Adding in a shredder with a huge sound like Zakk over the top of it...it would overwhelm the subtlities of what Slash does.
I love them both..but I don't really see how they could work together - as they're both the lead guitarist who's driving the song - someone needs to be subserviant and either of them doing that wastes their abilities.
EDIT: But I agree with bono...No disrespect to Axl...but I think his comments about Slash often seem to be influenced by the breakdown in their relationship.
