Watch that 2006 vid of Axl and Kid Rock doing Nightrain.. Fuck he blows Kid Rock out worse than he did Tom Petty in 89.
Imagine that. Axl blowing someone outta the water while dueting his own song. And I don't think for one second Axl blew Tom Petty outta the water in 1989.
2006, Axl was lean,mean and better than anytime post 91.
Well when I saw them 3 times in 2006 his voice sucked all three times in comnparison to January 2010 when he sounded fucking awesome so gotta disgaree with you again.

2006 had highs and lows I think.
I'm always posting this...but Night Train at Rock Am Ring is Axl in total badass form - especially the middle to ending stuff from 2:30in where he gets into the screamy stuff....

Until he stops using the Mickey Mouse voice from 02, 2006 is still head and shoulders above this current tour, at least where Axl's voice is concerned.

Totally agree. LALD was one of the songs that I turned to my group immediately when their faces kinda cringed, and said "it was better in 2006".
And I stand by that. LALD sounded alot better when I heard him in 2006. YCBM also, which he had the Mickey Mouse voice on in 2011.
The rest though was either 2006, but mostly 1991. He was kicking ass.

I mentioned all of those people because i've played GN'R boots to every single one of them, and they ripped Axl's soul apart when they heard his "clean" voice.

There were several reason's Robin left. One was he was tired of waiting around and CD wasn't getting released. Pretty understandable. Another had something to do with being pissed off at the songs leaking. I still don't understand that.
You're right. It is a matter of personal taste. While I can understand the appeal of the raspy tone, especially on some of more aggressive songs, I have always liked a cleaner tone, like Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson and James LaBrie have. Not that Axl's tone is quite like theirs, but just that is part of the appeal of their voices to me - that cleaner tone.

Plus the fact that Robin blamed Axl that the only reason the leaks had any merit or interest in certain parties to leak it was because Axl continued and continued and continued to NOT release the album which drove up interest to steal and leak the music.
Robin blamed Axl for that I guarantee you.
Axl cost Robin money.
And I feel Robin is totally correct in that respect to have been pissed.

No I didn't misspeak. You put words into my mouth. Not the same thing. I specifically said "how he sounds now". Now means 2011 and not 2001-2002 does it not? So, you DID completely misread what I wrote...and you just did it again

Ali, that style for which he sings the song in 2011, is very similar to 2002.. Rasp was 2006. Non rasp is 02 or certain songs on this tour. Got it?
