True, but more than likely to make it fair for them, would make it NOT fair to Axl.

Based on the various accounts i've read, Axl chose Axl. Because there was no play in that situation that was gonna allow Slash & Duff to be honored and Axl at the same time, and make the whole thing work.

Axl ultimately chose to save himself from the sinking ship. jmho

Duff's book is great. Fast read. I love it. Slash's bored the fuck out of me.

For me, the most telling thing is how attentive Axl was ONCE Duff got help. Axl was the only one to call him or come see him after his Pancreas incident. Axl began communicating,  riding bikes, talking about the band.

Its impossible being the sober guy in a room full of junkies. so i can see why Axl distanced himself.

The name thing makes complete fucking sense to me now after reading how fucked up Duff was and Axl's explanation of not wanting a hassle continuing on legally etc.

Now that doesn't mean I am all of a sudden gonna be an Axlite and hate the old guys..

but Axl certainly has some vindication the more i read stuff from old members.

I always thought Duff was just kind of a drunk... didn't realize he was that hardcore into shit.

Yeah I didn't know how hardcore Duff was until he wrote the book and started talking about that mid-90's period more.

I suddenly got the Andy Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley comparisons he was making.

When I look back to that final 1993 show in Argentina... Duff looked fucking
H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. I was stunned he even lived past 1994.

While I didn't find Slash's book totally boring, I will admit that some parts of the book bored me as well.

I'm going to pick up Duff's book at the library in the next week or so and read it.

Yeah and if you ever watch him in that GNR  music video with Gary Oldman (song escapes my mind at the moment) he looks half dead.

D, calm Down please. The book is written by a guy, who can't remember shit from 92-95. They all have their side of the story.

After looking through some recent internet articles and some other reading materials on the band, I could see Duff was extremely fucked up during the last few years of the UYI tour and he needed help badly. Yeah I heard some of the things Axl did when Duff was very ill and I respect that because I would do that if my friend was that far gone.  I'm actually reading some of Slash's book currently; but I took a break from it because some of the content before Guns bores the hell outta me. Going to pick it up once my classes end for a couple of weeks. After that I may see if I can rent Duff's or Steven's book from someone or at a library. Don't really want to purchase them.

Just finished this book, was really good, and yeah I knew he was an alcoholic by the mid 90s but man he took it to another  level,  lol, geez

From duffs perspective its as tho gnr was over when  axl asked the gnr brandname be signed over to him...and that the last leg or 2 of the 93 tour was kinda phoned in

In the book he barely touches on gnr life post the Argentina shows

Just take a look at how terrible Duff looked in this press conference for the Australian Tour in 1993.
