Re: Rehearsals Streaming
They were all involved, I've heard Slash and Duff talk about being extensively involved and also that Del James choose much of the selection.
It was a massive disapointment, theres are hundreds of unofficial bootlegs that are far more powerfull sounding and have personal performances that shit all over whats on the official live album.
Off the top of my head I liked Used To Love Her, You're Crazy and Its Alright the best, Paradise City is pretty cool as well. Even though Jungle has redone vocals, I think its awesome as well.
Re: Rehearsals Streaming
I gotta agree on all those calls. If I had to listen to any tracks off of it, it would be those three.
And yeah, everyone is involved. Axl's overdubs are the most obvious but Slash has PLENTY of overdubs.
Plus, there's a weird thing with Rocket Queen that I never noticed til my brother pointed it out; the rhythm guitar is stripped from the track. It's pretty much the Tokyo version with the "Tastes Good" rap removed which I assume happened for copyright reasons, but why remove the rhythm track??
I still swear there were Finck redubs on SCOM. It could've just been a session musician that did it, but the solo sounds eerily similar to what was performed in 2001-02.
Best of LIVE ERA:
Jungle
Dust N' Bones
It's Alright
Yesterdays
Paradise City
imho. That's not to say that the particular performances ON the album are bad. Many are not. Some of the Tokyo samples were very good. But they were redone so bad, that just lifting the audio from the old VHS sounded better than the processed, refined shit on the album.

Re: Rehearsals Streaming
I read an interview with Slash where he said he went into the studio with his guitar ready to overdub the entire album like some other classic "live" albums were...but had a listen to it and figured that most of it was already there, so he then just added a couple of little bits here and there.

Re: Rehearsals Streaming
So bizzare.
I like what fink did on Chinese.
But it's just wierd to me, AFD is an all time classic album, rewriting that SCOM solo is like deciding to repaint the mona lisa or something like that.
It was a classic example of the art from as it was. Better to paint something new.
