watch how chaotic it is...Slash all bowed up, Ax running around in a jock strap fucking wired as hell....the crazy Brazilian coming up to grab his ass....the crew pouncing on the dude ...then, best scene, Axl walking back to his little room and Izzy laughing his ass off drinking a cup of water. Fucking Priceless. 9

Yeah, it's 20 years ago today, Sgt Pepper taught the band to play....

As far as the discussion about not releasing music on a regular basis is concerned, if you haven't figured out by now that all the "Axl is prolific" tripe we heard for years is 100% pure bullshit, you'll never figure it out.

Was supposedly prolific during the 1999-2008 CD era, yet from day one until finally reaching the finish line kept tinkering once every other blue moon with the same fucking tracks. I still laugh at the Merck comment in 2005 days after the IRS leak that there were 20+ tracks better than IRS and that the song wasn't even on the "A list". Three years later winds up on the album and happens to be one of the few highlights of the record.

Comedy gold...

if he cares he could leaked 2000 intentions album... isnt that rejected by record company and i assume it was his true vision of how nuGN'R should point (sound)?

I'd be willing to bet my left nut that the 2000 Intentions album had an almost identical track list as CD. Mediocre demos from 98-99 before Bucket added his secret recipe to elevate the tracks to the category of listenable.

If that 1999 demo of IRS was an indication of his "true vision", I praise all the gods of the universe that the vision rotted in his vault.

I'll take silence over that bullshit any day of the week.

like, godforbid he should throw us a bone...

While he obviously still has songs in his vault, if he started to throw some bones I have a feeling that vault would empty at the speed of light. Fuck bones at this point. I'll take the "B list" from the CD era wrapped in cellophane. The fact NO b sides were added to CD singles was a pretty big indication of what he has to work with and that was virtually ignored by everyone on all sites in the weeks/months before and after the album dropped.

(tho the silence obv means they/he isn't working on anything GnR related)

In other late breaking news, Liberace was gay....

Ron gave the fan base a reality check earlier this year when Ashba tried to act like it was 2002-05 again and telling people a new album was on the horizon and we were on the verge of overdosing on manna from heaven. Don't remember the exact quote, but he said the 2008-2011 lineup has NEVER recorded anything and IF something was to ever materialize it would be nothing but polishing up some CD era tracks in Axl's vault.

EDIT: I'm stoned. Gong posted the exact quote on the first page.

My interest in Ashba, Fortus, Frank, and Ron doing a new cut and paste job on ancient songs is below zero.

Ok. Well on the subject of "It's been so many years since Chinese was released and we've got nothing" I disagree.

First of all, if I had put all this time and energy into my album then it got released in the fashion CD was, I wouldn't promote it for shit either. But Axl did get GNR out to do (what I hear was) a successful tour overseas anyways. I really believe the Azoff lawsuit has caused a WORLD of shit none of us will ever know the details of.

I'm the first one to bitch over and over about no US Tour. But when information came to light that they reached a settlement, I realized that no US Tour was probably a direct result of litigation with Azoff. Now if RiR comes and goes then nothing is lined up and happens (US or not), my argument won't be valid any longer.

I'm really hoping that RiR is the start of the ball rolling again. I'd love for a US Tour to be announced by the end of September, before RiR so we all have something to look forward to.

there's always an excuse.
ok you can pass off there being no US tour on the Azoff thing & maybe even the release of new material.
BUT what has Azoff got to do with songwriting?! Ron's been in the band 6 fucking years! why why why why why can he not write even a single fucking song with the guy, or even fucking try to! that has NOTHING to do with the business or any bullshit lawsuit shenanigans.

we got another AFD world tour played by a cover band, and a few asian gigs got to hear a few Chinese songs. that's fucking nothing. it's nothing. i mean that in relative terms (cause obv it's something) but when placed against the potential that is in that band it's nothing.

there's always a world of shit around the guy, this much is true. what was he said about trying to get a new band together, "you wanna join my band? bring an umbrella" & i do sympathise with that aspect - fuck knows i get enough grief being a GnR fan. it just seems like i defend & promote their cause more than Axl does these days. & his seeming disinterest is a continual disappointment & more..

re: the vault/throwing the fans a bone -  i didn't mean unreleased tracks, i meant something SIMPLE like putting a video on youtube or some official concert footage. even releasing a live EP on Itunes of the 'acoustic' shows. it's easy for ANYONE ELSE in the world, but not for axl.
something to tide the fans over or generate a bit of interest - instead of having to debate whether another shitty CD booklet is real or not!

re: the prolific thing - is something i think we've known since Moby (or Youth?) revealed they had trouble even getting axl singing when they came to the table. but that doesn't really have anything to do with the poll... i know what you mean about the BS that merck & baz spouted about there being a mass of material but to his credit axl has actually tried to downplay that notion save for the gig in london '02 when he said about it being a trilogy.

re: bold - yea i know this, that was my point.. not that it directly shows a disregard for the fans but his procrastination, indecision & lack of communication on the direction do.
