Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
Russ,
"Yeah, Axl has never been a fan of touring"--how does he know that?
"I'm pretty sure Azoff would not have sued unless he knew he could win."--so he was privy to Azoff's line of thinking?
just to do two quick ones
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
they can post whatever they want...if they want to post the same negative shit over and over, more power to them. My only point is their schtick is very predictable, and it gets boring after awhile.
I should just avoid threads like this because people just talk out of their ass about things they have no idea about....and the "REALITY" (as Buzz likes to say) is nobody knows the full terms of the agreement....not even close.

That in the whole of the United States, there isn't one single promoter that's prepared to stomach Axl's reputation to put on a GNR show - even when the band has played sucessful shows in places like England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand.
Not one person wants to take a risk? Not one person feels that the GNR brand could make them any money in a live show despite the line up changes and so on? Yet worldwide there's promoters who clearly take such risks, but none can be found anywhere in the usa.
It's just not true.
And if it is true...then I see a massive business opportunity....I should move to the USA and become a promoter....
Well, I'm just saying that I actually agree with you. And after 2002, I heard the same sounding-of-the-death-knell crap when it comes to GN'R and touring. Yet, low and behold, a major 2006 tour was undertaken.
Ali
Yes...4 years later. Hardly a ringing endorsement...and how did that tour end?
You're missing the point. I don't know if you were around on the boards then, but some faction of the fanbase and/or public (including RS with their story "GN'R in Crisis - Is this the end for Axl?") were convinced that Axl and GN'R would never tour again, that they were too much of a risk for any promoter. They were wrong.
The 2006 tour ended just fine with three shows in Universal City, CA.

When's the last time GnR completed a tour in the US? I don't think Azoff blacklisted GnR in the US; I think Axl did. He made it where they were unmarketable and nobody wanted to touch them. THAT is why the touring clause is in there. It wasn't happening any other way...and it still might not happen.
If it's really about making money, then why now would Axl and Azoff strike a touring agreement? Is a GN'R tour more profitable now for some reason I don't see? Nothing has changed to make GN'R more popular.
Ali
You're looking at it from the wrong point of view. Maybe Axl wanted to tour the US, but couldn't (regardless of the reason), so he puts this language into the agreement. I don't know...just throwing out a plauseable theory.
"Wrong" point of view? And, now it's "regardless of the reason"? O.k.
Being in a legal battle with the Executive Chairman of Live Nation Entertainment (The merged entity consisting of Live Nation and Ticketmaster) certainly can't help wanting to mount a significant tour in the US.

The case is settled and that is a GOOD thing for the Gnr brand-whether it be Axl's orchestra or a potential reunion down the road. The brand needs Azoff and Live Nation in their corner.
haha! i couldn't agree more! you are 100% correct. it's really a shame what this board has turned into. i used to check it out alot because you could have honest discussions. and people would bring well-thought opinions.
now it's just a place to make up negative shit about axl and the band, and then discuss as if that shit is fact.
doesn't anyone in here get sick of posting the same shit over and over?
hopefully when things pick up for the band again, the vibe on this board will improve.
what can i say ..... I gotta agree...its a rarity any more where i more than half skim the posts in this section
Bucket and Finck are gods...DJ is a whore, Ron is cool but he sucks @ guitar, axl ruined gnr, CD is unmarketable and a failure .... we need a reunion.... etc, etc *yawn*
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"

I think you've made the same post a hundred times. At least. Is it boring? Yes, it is, but you keep doing this again and again. Cause it's your opinion, just like the 'Tommy Eugene Stinson is God' mantra. Other people voice their opinion, too. If it turned into a boring circle, then blame GN'R. Nothing has changed (for good) with the band, so how could you have a different opinion. I think on this board only Russ', faldor's and Olorin's opinion changed about the band - for worse.
