Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
i probably LOVE My World
haven't heard it in ages tho - i haven't really listened 2 GnR in awhile either tbf, & when i do it's usually with company & they don't wanna be listening to MW (tho i did revisit Slash this morning to try n clear the cobwebs away)
but i distinct remember the last few times i did listen to it & have it finally 'click' - there's a few cool ideas on MW & executed with a skill that is the equal or better than other 'industrial' rock before or long after.
i do agree GnR have some stinkers but i don't think MW is one. i prefer it to something like Back Off Bitch for example.
or even Yesterdays..
i'd defo prefer an album in the vein of MW than to go down the pop-rock road people were crying out for in the Sixx Am thread..

"My World" was of a very high standard?
You're going to shoot me but I actually think it is.
I'll grant it was a wild excursion from traditional GNR style...but it seems well thought out as a concept for a song, the lyrics seem like a little window into the states of mind Axl is capiable of and various pressures messing with his mind - the choice of samples and the way they are edited in also seems to be relatively elabourate and constructed with some care.
Didn't he create the song while on shrooms? That seems to kill the "constructed with care" theory, don't you think?

Are you are about that? The poster I've seen looks like what we saw during the last Euro tour.

Ok my bad, but there's definitely no 'Chinese' about it. Whilst I have enjoyed the album, it feels so long since it was first talked about that I think it's time to move on. I think the band members would appreciate it too.

Chinese 5 track ep's
Shackler's Revenge
Scraped
Riad N' The Bedouins
Oh My God
MadagascarChinese Democracy
TWAT
Catcher
IRS
ProstituteBetter
SOD
If The World
Sorry
This I love
I would have so taken that over cd if it had meant we could have heard music quicker than we did. The leaks really got me excited, by the time cd came out it had mostly gone especially when the track list was most of what we had already heard.

I have yet to see the art for the tour. Any links?

Yeah that's been around since 2010. And I think I remember saying the same thing that they seemed to be distancing themselves from CD.
I still think the 2009-11 tour posters were the best looking representations for Guns N' Roses since the 1993 Skin N' Bones leg.

Then go listen to fucking NIN.
My World, Oh My God, Silkworms, Shackler's Revenge every so often is very cool...
But a whole album and GN'R changing it's sound?
Fuck that - GN'R was hard rock, and they should stay hard rock. They need to just adapt it for 2011.
I see no reason why GN'R couldn't be a mesh of all things GN'R with DJ doing Slash's bluesy tone, Ron doing Bucket's technical shredding, and adapting DJ/Sixx:AM melodies for hit appeal. Axl & Dizzy handling piano.
That would rule and you know it!
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
i will go listen to NIN, but when i'm good & ready!
obv GnR, since AFD, have played with a variety of styles & genres all based around the hard rock formula. i was just saying by way of comparison, if they released a streamlined album i'd prefer it in the tone of My World/Silkworms than Lies of the Beautiful People/TIGH
with axl at the helm GnR always will be a mesh of different styles. it's one of the reasons they're the best [hard] rock band ever, i was just sayin y'know... My World is p great is all..

I've never understood why people were so embarassed at GNR's Skynyrd moments. Paradise City, Breakdown, Yesterdays, Civil War... fucking awesomeness if you ask me.
Wait, people were embarrassed by those? Really?
