I thought I read somewhere that he was a nice guy (Duff maybe?). I don't see Paul as having any significant impact, but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. I'm a pretty bad guitar player but could contribute with writing. I'd have at least given being in the band a shot if the opportunity presented itself. Hard to fault him.
