Re: The Tommy Stinson Thread
Not to mention, I have a gut feeling Axl's back to wanting to revisit Guns classic era (AFD/UYI), based on the acquisition of DJ, the covers they played in 2010, and his overall attitude.
Pulling material from that vault with an industrial vibe, and trying to mix it with Guns/Stones-rock is gonna make the next album really difficult to make a cohesive album.
I don't see Axl trying to re-package and sell a Robin/Bucket/Paul album with DJ/Ron/Richard... I just don't.

i don't see it either. doesn't make sense. new album for this band would have to mean mostly all new material. release the bucket/brain/fink shit down the road.( i really believe there is at least 15 more full songs from that era.) don't bother fucking with any of that material any more.
Re: The Tommy Stinson Thread
I hope you guys are wrong, just in a timeline sense. There's been no evidence that the new lineup has gotten together as a full band and recorded new music. There have been plenty of comments about working on the rest of the CD era music though by Ron and DJ (I'm assuming that's what he's talking about).
So while I agree, and would LOVE to see what this lineup could come up with, I just think it would take too damn long at this point. Release what's already close(st) to done, THEN write some new stuff.

Ali's a swinger dude. I'll cut a lot of people slack these days, but she's clinging and won't let go.
HE. And as MisterID said, again, "You decide to believe one thing, doesn't mean everyone has to agree with that."
I prefer to not put words in Tommy's mouth, that's all. Especially when he said in 2009, "it turned out great". He may think it was unnecessary to continue to re-record and add additional tracks to the songs, but still like the songs and the record itself. Those two concepts are not mutually exclusive, as you seem to think.

pretty good cover tune. Dave Pirner from SOUL ASYLUM is quite intoxicated.

He's a swinger. Sorry. I'm sure I'll call you a she down the road too. I apologize ahead of time.

You're not wrong, but it'd still be mega-lame.
The only way that works is if Axl just releases it 'as is', gives Robin & Bucket & Brain a cut, and just has DJ & Ron & Frank work up how to play the material live, and move on.

Re: The Tommy Stinson Thread
This has to be one of his best quotes regarding the CD saga....
"There were guys who'd never ever made a record putting out their ideas. At first, those of us who'd actually made records thought their ideas sucked, but there were also some good ones."
