What a dark feeling to know that these AIC guys had the world at their feet and couldn't say no to themselves. Mike Starr had huge issues and it's sad someone with his immense talent went out like this. I wonder if the truth about Layne's last hours will ever come out now?

I doubt it, but it seems kind of obvious over the years. Layne was committing suicide through drugs and was in a terrible state. What's amazing is how his body just would not die. It also says alot that if a fellow junkie couldn't convince him, no one would.

TMZ.com has obtained what it says was the last voicemail former ALICE IN CHAINS bassist Mike Starr left for a person he was trying to score drugs from hours before he died.

On the tape, which can be heard at this location, Mike says he's willing to pay whatever it costs to get his hands on some "bud," and insists, "I need it so bad."

(I know its harsh to post things like this of the dead. I gave it thought. I feel that if someone can identify with him hopefully it can help save said person.)

"Bud?" That's the most shocking thing I've heard in this sad story. Wonder if he needed to come down from something else.

And the ever toubled Travis Meeks gets a mention in the linear notes! How appropriate.

Possibly, if he was doing Opana. Opana (a opioid) has a short-release time for the euphoric effect (so much to a point, I don't even know why people use it), and you have to use more and more and more of it to maintain the high.

Weed could've eased that had he mixed it, imho.
