Haha, you're actually kinda right Cramer. By the mid-90's, music videos were done on MTV. Even TRL in the late 90's was basically a rolling advertisement for the record industry. The coolest thing I ever saw on there was Jungle: Live Era, which kind of re-fired the GN'R blood in me from the early 90's. The rest was Britney, Creed & Limp Bizkit. Ugh.
If they bring back Animaniacs, my 1990s afternoon will be complete.
Watched Animaniacs. Do you remember Tiny Toons? Watched that alot.
Batman: The Animated Series used to be a HUGE deal in my afternoons in the early 90's, but it was done by 1994. Only a few more new episodes trickled out in 1995. By the time they revived it on the WB in 1997, it wasn't the same show, it was marketed too much to small kids, and I just kind of moved on from it.
I wish they would bring Daria and Celebrity Death Match back, those two shows were the shit.

TRL did do an episode completely devoted to AC/DC when their late 90's abum (the title escapes me right now) was about to come out.
As I remember it, it was pretty hilarious because they had the normal TRL audience there, I assume wondering who the hell the old men were.
Also, with Animaniacs and Tiny Toons... Remember Histeria. That one was pretty short lived, but it was awesome. If it was out on dvd I would own it for sure.

I don't have the official numbers, but MTV not playing videos is probably a smart business move on their part. I know Jersey Shore gets great ratings, as do lots of their other shows. Teen Mom as well. I've heard Teen Wolf is actually a pretty good show, but haven't seen it myself. I doubt their ratings would be as good if they showed mostly music videos. Not in this day and age. The attention span is too short. Who wants to sit around and wait for your favorite video to come on when you can just go onto youtube and get it. Same reason why people don't listen to the radio anymore. What's the point, as long as you have access otherwise?
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching "Metal Mania" on VH1 Classic. All the great hard rock and metal videos from the 80's. But today's generation could care less.

Too much Jersey Shore, not enough Priest & Bulletboys on Metal Mania.
And I too watch the hell out of Metal Mania, and watched the hell out of Headbanger's Ball (the real one, not that faggotey-ass Roadrunner records Nu-Metal bullshit on MTV2 with that Butterbean-lookin' douche... where's fuckin Riki at?)
