Thanks for all the background & information, James.
Even back in the old days it was fragile and some said it was a miracle they stayed together long enough to record AFD.
After reading Adler's book, I think it's a miracle they stayed *alive* long enough to record it.

Aww, that smile.

Slash's popularity has plummeted since returning to GNR while Axl's has gone through the roof.
I wonder why Slash's popularity has taken a nose dive? You'd think the reunion would spike interest in both of them.
I'm surprised at how little interest there is in the rest of the band. People aren't any more interested in Duff than they are Adler? Actually they're *less* interested -- at least Adler got those little spikes when he appeared on rehab reality shows.

You guys are probably right. If Axl wanted to be a Dick he would have.
He's not exactly known for great subtly when he's in dick-mode. Still, I can understand people feeling like any misplaced word or questionable gesture could be misconstrued, leading to this reunion blowing up before it even gets off the ground. Personally, I don't think that's going to happen. I think Axl has grown up a lot.
(*knock on wood* If I jinx this whole thing, I'm going to feel terrible!)

The coma line makes I look like Slash was begging Axl to play it and Axl only did it to make Slash happy.
That's not how I heard it at all. Here's the snippet:

He was asked which songs he liked to play, he mentioned the CD ones and then added he liked to play Coma because he knew it would make Slash and the fans happy. To me it sounded thoughtful and gracious.

Thanks for the welcome!

I really hope it's a publicity thing, rather than Axl seeing those images and being hurt by them. I wasn't a huge fan of young/obnoxious Axl, but I feel protective of older/wiser Axl. He doesn't deserve to be shamed over gaining weight. That happens to most of us as we get older.
