.........

I...just...ugh. I mean, I can still SEE that it's Axl...sort of...maybe...

I gotta say it. What is up with the five pounds of rings/bracelets?! And three necklaces? Just, NO!

I would totally still spend five minutes alone with him.........

Alice in Chains went on I want to say 8:05, and played until 9:20 ish. Guns came on at 10:20, and played until 12:30 or so. Two hours for a festival seems long to me, but I'm not complaining.

Alright you guys. I have my review. I want to preface and say that its probably going to be biased, but I'm going to try really hard to give you an honest opinion.

Before that, I want to say something. I know we here on the boards and as fans have heard the same setlist and songs for what seems like forever. Hell, last night I realized I've seen GN'R since 2002. Many of you here probably go as far back as the 80s or 90s. So by now the songs are probably tired, and old. But honestly? There's four albums worth of material. FOUR. That's not a very large catalog of music to pick from. Yeah, I remember seeing them before CD was even a rumor, when they busted out with Better and Street of Dreams. Sure sometime I wish he'd sing something no one has heard before. But, I've been to shows where people have sang along with the CD songs, and I've been to shows where the crowd is quiet save for those few die hards that know those songs. There's still people out there who haven't heard the CD songs, there were people there last night who have NEVER seen GN'R in concert. So for us as diehard fans, its the same old same old.

That being said, what I saw last night was Axl Rose having fun. He was smiling, he was genuine when he thanked the fans in between songs. You could see that he truly appreciated the crowd. At least that's how I saw it. He even slipped at one point, and just kept right on going. He nailed Jungle. He needs to stay away from Estranged. He was pretty reserved most of the night as far as not running back and forth across the stage. His voice does come and go. Some songs he's got it, and others...its tough. But at the end of the day, I am just truly grateful that he shows up, and that he still puts forth the effort.

So, take it for what its worth.

FWIW,  I will be more than happy to give a review of their performance tonight. I won't promise live updates, but I have no problem with letting you know how the show is.

Yeesh....some pretty horrible reviews there...at least spell the mans name right....

I don't know, that video sounds like typical Axl. He sounds a little winded, but otherwise its pretty much what I've come to expect from him. I mean, I think I've been to enough shows now to where I can say he's had good ones and not so great ones. And is anyone surprised that he showed up late? Geez, I remember Dallas, I almost died when he came out at 9:30.

I'm going to the River City Rockfest tomorrow night. I'll let you all know how that goes.

Awesome Texas gets some shows. They seem a little light on US tours.

Awwww. big_smile  I know I don't post a lot, but that's still cool. I got my V.I.P. ticket, and the email that it was printed. Apparently it gets me preferred parking, a separate area for the show, shade, a place to sit, blah blah blah. And a snowball chance in hell meeting Axl. NOT. Maybe if I flash around my GNR tattoos enough, heh. I would do anything to get 5 minutes with him. 20

I just got the email for this, and literally screamed "Oh my god Axl is coming to San Antonio!!!" I am most definitely getting a VIP package, I don't even care what it includes. It's $100, which isn't bad. Pretty good lineup too, should be awesome.

I remember the first time I saw GNR on television. It was on MTV, and the video was November Rain. I remember flipping the channel a few times, and eventually I just left it. I had no idea who they were or what was going on, but when I saw Axl I fell in love. Hard. I wanted to know everything about him, about the band, you name it. Of course, this was right around the time when they broke up. I followed every rumor, read all the stupid magazine articles. I bought the CD's, posters, books, etc etc etc. Axl Rose was a huge influence on my life. Guns N Roses as a whole was a big influence on me as well. There are days where I stop and think- what if I never knew who they were. That's how big they are to me.

My favorite moments both good and bad. My first time seeing Axl live on tv was at the MTV video music awards in 2002 (?) Right before their first tour. The first time I would ever get to see them live. I didn't care who was in the band, I just wanted to finally see the music live for myself. I saw them at MSG, and I was there in Philly when it all fell apart. I traveled to Toronto to see them, and Dallas. If I had the funds I would have flown out to Vegas, or caught one of the up close and personal shows in NYC.

Basically, I guess I would be an Axl fan. I would follow that man to hell and back, and some days I feel like I've done just that. Guns N' Roses is what you make of them. I just want to hear the music. Period. I don't care who is up there playing the instruments.

In closing, I want to say, regardless of any feelings or personal beliefs. I am so excited for GNR to be going into the Hall. Thanks guys for making such amazing music, and for being such a huge influence on my life.

Axl -Thank you. For everything.

#9 Re: Guns N' Roses » RRHoF Discussion (Izzy/Slash/Axl Press Statements) » 658 weeks ago

Ya know, I was really excited to hear that GNR were nominated, and then ultimately got inducted into the RNRHOF. I debated buying tickets to the concert and ceremony. I didn't because somehow I knew something stupid was going to happen. Oh, look, something stupid.

I'm the biggest, loudest Axl supporter there is. I have fought for and defended the man over and over again. I have warned friends not to say stupid shit about him unless they wanted an earful. And this right here makes me roll my eyes and groan. On the other hand, I think back to something I remember reading a long time ago. About how Axl never really wanted any of this, and how he never expected GNR to get as big as they did. It doesn't explain what he's doing, but maybe it explains how his mind functions. I don't know. I've always sort of felt bad for him. He has such an amazing talent, and instead of using it he throws shit around like this. For what? How does this do anything good for him or GNR?
Axl Rose everybody- misuunderstood, moody, and completely confusing.
