Axl gets props here...btw, anyone think he is just a little pissed at Merck?
#2 Re: Guns N' Roses » what are we disappointed with? » 832 weeks ago
I'm not disappointed with anything. I saw Axl perform live 3 times and I got the record I wanted since I was a teenager and it by far met my expectations if not at points exceeded them.
The promotion, what critics think, what other people on the net' think just doesn't matter. It's subjective and if we were all the genuises we sometimes think we are on these (and really any) internet forums then we'd all be living in little utopias where our every dream and command is realized. Fuck it. It's entertainment and it's a great piece of art that I thought I'd never see. And if nothing else ever comes, so be it.

^lol
it sickens me that she got the first thanks credit from him...and that jarmo got one too....
fuck it--the fact that axl solicited Azoff says to me part of him wants to move beyond the mess that has been the last decade. Az has balls and hopefully things progress.

i'd put more money on it being about Slash than the fans--but in either case does it matter? Create your own story to the song!

They have a new album out and are still obsessed with the past. I can see why hangers on like Del, Beta, etc. would play with themselves while looking at that review, but its hard to imagine Axl approving of such nonsense being posted on the official site.
I also have a hard time believing Azoff would allow that to be put up...I'm not sure if a reunion is/was ever in the books, but I know someone like him would not sign on to manage Axl without maximizing his prospects for success.
One wonders if that will be the next showdown: A/G vs. the GnR parasites for control of whatever comes next.

^most great creators aren't happy.
#7 Re: Guns N' Roses » What Really Led To Chinese Democracys Impending Release? » 834 weeks ago
seems believable. and while the bulk of responsibility is on Axl, Merck clearly was not a competent manager or businessman. seems like he spent more time on message boards than actually doing his fuckin job, and alot of other artists were probably screwed too.

if you can shell out 12 bucks for a twelve pack, you can shell out 12 bucks for a cd.
#9 Re: Guns N' Roses » New York yawns at Chinese Democracy » 834 weeks ago
What exactly is lack of promotion?
- There were TV spots ad on Adult Swim and Comedy Central--2 huge networks for the 18-34 demographic
- There were the MySpace Promos and Widgets, and stream
- There were two singles, a movie placement, and a video game placement
- One of the biggest stations in the country played the album in its entirety (Krock)
The only thing I see lacking is a live performance or an Axl interview. In the former case, I would say that was a mistake. In the latter case, I'd say what's the point? Every interview would be the same: 'why did it take so long'? 'Zomg you had a guy with a KFC getup play on this!'
All the answers as to why it took so long are in the extensive liner notes, IMO.
And as for nobody knowing it is out--when i have people who aren't even guns fans telling me they were reading about it in the NY Times, I think it's safe to say people do know.

Hadley, MA had the big display and copies littered throughout the store.
